Almost 4,000 women and students in Gingoog City in Misamis Oriental have received various types of government aid, including cash assistance.
A total of 3,000 women beneficiaries received PHP5,000 each from the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) Program in a payout ceremony held at the Gingoog City Comprehensive National High School on Thursday.
In a statement on Friday, the offices of Speaker Martin Romualdez and Tingog Partylist Rep. Yedda Marie Romualdez said the two lawmakers led the distribution.
House Deputy Secretary-General Sofonias Gabonada Jr., who represented the Speaker, said the cash assistance was “in celebration of the tireless efforts and unconditional love from the women in every Filipino family” during International Women’s Month.
Also on Thursday, some 856 TESDA (Technical Education and Skills Development Authority) Training for Work Scholarship (TWS) students in Gingoog City received PHP3,000 each in cash assistance though a financial grant coursed through the AICS Program of the DSWD.
Gabonada said that aside from the cash aid, each student will also get between PHP15,000 to PHP25,000 in scholarship from TESDA. All of the beneficiaries also received five kilos of rice each.
Meanwhile, members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Oriental Mindoro received food and cash assistance worth PHP600,000, also through the efforts of the offices of the Speaker and Tingog.
