Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, Gen. Guillermo Eleazar, on Monday commended the National Capital Region Police Office’s (NCRPO) outreach activity for farmers of Sitio Bangkal in Bagong Silangan, Quezon City.

NCRPO personnel helped farmers plant rice as part of its PALAYanihan or Rice Planting BARANGAYanihan.

With the help of the Metro Manila policemen, farmers were given a chance to spend quality time at home with their loved ones.

Aside from assisting in the backbreaking work of planting rice, the NCR cops also provided food packs and health kits to around 500 families in the area.

The NCRPO also installed a water system to provide residents of Sitio Bangkal with clean water, under its NCRPO Simula ng Isang Bagong Oportunidad sa Lipunan or SIBOL “Well of Life” project.

Eleazar thanked the NCRPO for these initiatives that truly help the community.

“Saludo ako sa ating mga kapulisan na patuloy na tumutugon sa pangangailangan sa mga komunidad, bukod sa pagbibigay nila ng seguridad. Sana ay marami pa kayong matulungan sa inyong mga proyekto (I salute our police officers who continue to respond to the needs of the communities, in addition to providing them with security. I hope you can help a lot more with your projects),” Eleazar said in a statement.

Reaching out to probably one of the few remaining hidden farms in Metro Manila, NCRPO chief Maj. Vicente Danao said the Team NCRPO conducted a five-in-one outreach activity last Aug. 20 in Sitio Bakal, Brgy Bagong Silangan, Quezon City.

A “Barangay Ugnayan” and Livelihood Seminar were also held wherein Team NCRPO shared how indispensable community participation is in the fight against all forms of criminality, illegal drugs and terrorism.

Income-generating skills training were also conducted to bolster the capability of the community in increasing its income and providing an additional source of living while waiting for the crops to grow.

The community wholeheartedly thanked the NCRPO for reaching out to the most vulnerable sectors of society no matter where they are. (PNA)
