The city government has announced that the second day of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccination for children with comorbidities will continue on Wednesday (Nov. 3).

In a media advisory on Tuesday, the city Public Information Office (PIO) said as per the City Health Services Office (CHSO), the vaccination of 12-17 years old is for those with comorbidities and should have received a text message from the Baguio City government.

Pediatric patients who will be vaccinated will be accommodated at the Bishop Carlito Cenzon open gymnasium and at the SM-Baguio basement 1 parking, it added.

The Covid-19 vaccination for minors 12 to 17 years old was rolled-out in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) on October 29 at the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center, catering to 150 minors.

More than 4,000 children with comorbidities in Baguio have registered in October at the online registration portal.

One of the first from the sector who was vaccinated during the roll-out was Annika Pinero, 13, who has bronchial asthma.

Her father, Andrew Pinero, said his daughter was excited and she even told her grandparents that she will get the Covid-19 vaccine.

Pinero said Annika consented to be vaccinated for her safety and that of her family.

“Gusto na rin niyang makalabas kaya excited na siyang mabakunahan (she already wants to go out of the house which excites her to be vaccinated),” he added.

He said their entire family consents to the vaccination.

The requirement for a minor to be vaccinated includes a pre-registration with the bakuna.baguio.gov.ph; a medical certification given by an attending physician detailing the comorbidity of the vaccine recipient which must be presented before the vaccination.

A document of filiation of the adult companion of the minor must also be presented. The adult must also sign the consent form and the child in the assent form. The text message from the local government unit, showing the confirmed schedule must also be presented. (PNA)
