Motorists in Metro Manila are expected to experience minor traffic slowdown along Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue (Edsa) and C-5 Road as the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) started to install overhead informative and traffic signs as well as concrete barriers on Wednesday night.

“Baka makaapekto sa traffic (It might affect traffic),” MMDA Public Affairs Staff Director Sharon Gentalian said on Thursday.

In an advisory, the MMDA said activities for traffic road signs and facilities started at 9 p.m. on Wednesday with the removal of overhead informative signs at MMDA footbridges and Gantries along C-5 Road and installation of hazard markers for reflectorized square plates at concrete barriers along Edsa-De Jesus portion of the Edsa Busway.

On Thursday morning, the MMDA installed informative traffic road signage at EDSA-Ortigas Avenue and Shaw Boulevard (southbound) and resumed removal of overhead informative signs at MMDA footbridges along C-5 Road and Gantries.

The MMDA personnel on the same day loaded concrete barriers beneath Tramo Boulevard flyover northbound, on Edsa between Heritage U-turn slot to Edsa/P. Celle U-turn slot northbound in Pasay City, and along Marcos highway fronting Salve Regina Hospital and Gil Fernando Ave. U- turn slot in Marikina. They also replaced and retrieved damaged plastic barriers along Edsa.

On Feb. 5 (Friday), the MMDA will install informative and regulatory traffic road signs at Edsa-Boni, directional and informative traffic road signs at Edsa-Mandaluyong North and Southbound, and informative and regulatory traffic road signs at Kamuning-T. Morato intersection.

At 9 p.m. onwards on the same day, MMDA personnel will install reflectorized steel bollards at Edsa-Aurora Boulevard to Santolan Southbound, and hazard markers for reflectorized square plates at concrete barriers at the Taft Avenue portion of the EDSA Busway in Pasay City.

From 6 a.m. on Saturday up to 6 a.m. Sunday and from 10 p.m. Sunday to 6 p.m. Monday, MMDA will load concrete barriers beneath Tramo Boulevard Flyover Northbound and install these just after EDSA/P. Celle U-turn slot toward Taft Avenue intersection northbound. It will also conduct the retrieval and replacement of damaged plastic barriers along C-5 road from Commonwealth Avenue – Aurora Boulevard intersection.

On Tuesday from 6 a.m. to 6 a.m. the following day, it will load up barriers beneath Tramo Boulevard flyover Northbound and resume installation of barriers just after EDSA/Tramo Boulevard towards Malibay footbridge northbound and will finish retrieval and replacement of damaged plastic barriers along C-5 road from Eastwood area-Ortigas Avenue Intersection.
