The Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) in Aloran, Misamis Occidental has joined an international organization that can help its members achieve personal growth in their community.

In the CORDS-10 (Cabinet Officers for Regional Development and Security) podcast with Communications Secretary Jose Ruperto Martin Andanar on Saturday, SK Federation president Ace John Mutia said the International Association of Youth and Students for Peace-Philippines (IAYSP) assists young people become peace advocates even during the pandemic.

He said it provides more opportunities to the youths to improve themselves through public speaking, peacemaking projects, and other programs.

As part of the IAYSP program, Mutia said the advocacy of the federation of Aloran is to focus on its brand projects.

He said it conducted the Billion Trees Project, coastal cleanup, and the rally of hope.

“Even in this time of the pandemic, let us not forget our environment because it helps us in our daily lives. We trained the young people and we helped them to become peace advocates,” he said.

Mutia said the young people aimed to become an instrument of peace in their community, barangay, municipality, and home.

He added the IAYSP is a “big help” in their personal growth.

Meanwhile, the SK-Aloran recently celebrated the Linggo ng Kabataan 2021 highlighting the use of skills and creativity during this time of pandemic.

“One of the activities we did during the Linggo ng Kabataan was poster making, TikTok challenge competition, mobile photography and we included the face mask and face shield design contest because we gave importance to them due to this pandemic,” Mutia said. (PNA)
