The Bangsamoro region’s education ministry has begun building school facilities worth PHP11.9 million for schools’ divisions in Cotabato City, Maguindanao del Sur, and Maguindanao del Norte on Monday.

Minister Mohagher Iqbal of the Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE) said the school projects include three water sanitation and hygiene with water source development, two covered courts with stage, and a mini-covered court.

The projects will be funded by the 2022 and 2023 Transitional Development Impact Fund (TDIF) of members of parliament of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA).

Subsidized under the 2022 TDIF are water sanitation and hygiene with water source development projects at Pinaring Elementary School in Sultan Kudarat town in Maguindanao del Norte, Nalapaan Elementary School in the Special Geographic Area, and the Darugao Elementary School in Upi, Maguindanao del Norte, all worth PHP879,500 each.

The water project at Darugao Elementary School stands to benefit over 2,500 pupils in the village.

Under the 2023 TDIF, covered court projects will be built at Jamiat Cotabato and Institute of Technology Inc. in Cotabato City (PHP3,974,178); and Madrasah Madia in Datu Saudi Ampatuan, Maguindanao del Sur (PHP3,937,230).

A mini-covered court funded under 2022 TDIF will also be built at Cotabato City National High School Annex in L.R. Sebastian, Barangay Rosary Heights 11, Cotabato City amounting to PHP1,365,176. (PNA)
