A total of 24 on-the-job training police personnel detailed at the Angeles City Police Office (ACPO) since the start of the community quarantine tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

The results of their swab tests by the Philippine National Red Cross at its molecular laboratory in Clark were released Wednesday.

Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr. quickly instructed the Angeles City Health Office to do massive rapid testing in all police precincts, including the ACPO headquarters.

As of press time, the 24 rookie policemen are admitted at the Clark ASEAN Convention Center for medical treatment.

ACPO has more than 500 personnel, excluding civilians or non-uniformed employees, in at least six police stations and precincts across the city.

“A total of six teams have been formed to speed-up the testing among police personnel of ACPO,” said Lazatin as he stressed the need to immediately initiate contact tracing to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Lazatin said all personnel of ACPO are confined in their respective police stations and headquarters while the rapid test is being undertaken.

The infected police personnel are under the supervision of the Regional Special Training Unit 3. (PNA)
