NIDO® 3+ hosted Todo Expert Toddler Picnic Sessions (TIPS) — a virtual event on October 9 where parents learned expert advice on how to raise their children during the pandemic.

The program with NIDO® 3+ is designed to address the nutritional needs of Filipino toddlers as they grow up, especially in the present setting where immunity is a primary concern.

NIDO® 3+ is one with the parents to provide the needs of their kids. They invited nutrition and dietary experts to give advice on determining the right nutrition and health protection to help 3+ toddlers become a #TodoExplorer. A few celebrity moms such as Marian Rivera, Isabel Oli-Prats, Gladys Reyes, Maricar de Mesa, among others were also present to share some insight and personal experiences.

Nutrition experts said toddlers aged 3 and up are the most critical and challenging stage of a child’s development and in order to support them, parents must play the role of providing them with proper nutrition.

The Nestle Research Center, in collaboration with the Food and Nutrition Research Institute (DOST-FNRI), conducted a survey analysis and results show: most of the Filipino children are lacking in vitamins and minerals found in vegetables, fruits, and age-appropriate milks, in contrast to the heavy consumption of carbohydrates and refined sugars.

As seen in Filipino diet, consuming dairy products and sweetened beverages which are filled with refined sugars can lead to problems such as dental issues, as well as increased risk of obesity and diabetes.

In fact, the World Health Organization recommends that daily sugar intake should not be more than 7 teaspoons a day.

Thus, NIDO® 3+ is designed to use lactose, a naturally occurring type of sugar without hidden sucrose that helps in the digestion of calcium needed for bone development. NIDO® 3+ is also developed to be rich in age-appropriate nutrients, such as LACTOBACILLUS PROTECTUS®, 50% More protection nutrients like Vitamins A, C, E, DHA, PREBIO3®, Iron, Zinc and other essential vitamins & minerals, and has no table sugar added.

Experts remind parents to be mindful of their toddler’s daily sugar intake and to choose the right milk for their growing children by checking the nutrition facts.
