Parents of schoolchildren have been reminded to comply with the health protocols, as limited face-to-face classes kicked off Monday here.

“Kindly follow the school protocols since it is for the good of the children,” Dr. Rosalio Conturno Jr., Governance and Operations division chief of DepEd’s City Schools Division, said in an interview.

Conturno said all teachers involved in the limited face-to-face classes in 216 schools–from Kindergarten to Grade 3 and Grade 11 to 12–are vaccinated.

Among the health protocols being observed is that parents are off-limits within the campus premises.

“The teachers will fetch the school children from the gate to the classroom,” said Jen Nuñez, a Grade 2 teacher at the Don Gregorio Evangelista Memorial School in Barangay Sta. Catalina.

Nuñez said the school children are required to bring their own snacks, face masks, water, alcohol, and other school needs.

Conturno said the face-to-face classes are only being held in the morning since the release of the class modules for those on the home scheme is in the afternoon.

DepEd started its pilot F2F classes on December 6 last year covering two elementary schools and a secondary school here.

However, it was suspended when the national Inter-Agency Task Force for the management of Emerging Infectious Disease placed Zamboanga City under Alert Level 3.

Currently, the city is under Alert Level 1 until March 31. (PNA)
