Beneficiaries of the Department of Social Welfare and Development in the Caraga Region (DSWD-13) from this city received government interventions during the LAB for All program of First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos on Tuesday.

In a statement on Wednesday, the DSWD-13 indicated that a total of 1,153 households received family food packs and PHP3,000 financial aid each through its Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation program.

The First Lady, together with the top officials of DSWD-13, personally handed over the aid to the beneficiaries during the event.

“Beyond these figures, what’s important is that every person matters and even if only one person goes home a little healthier and happier, I think what we did today is already meaningful,” Araneta-Marcos said, as quoted in the DSWD-13 statement.

During the activity, the First Lady was joined by DSWD Assistant Secretaries Hermogenes Aguilar and Ramel Jamen, as well as Regional Director Mari-Flor Dollaga.

Aside from the DSWD-13, the region’s Department of Agriculture (DA-13) also joined the LAB for All activity that benefited hundreds of farmers in the city.

Araneta-Marcos was joined by DA-13 Regional Executive Director Ricardo Oñate Jr. for the turnover of three-layer chicken projects worth PHP238,500 to the Madagwat Na Bangon-Bangon Farmer Association in this city.

The DA-13 also distributed vegetable seeds and various kinds of seedlings of fruit trees to the farmers present during the activity.

Meanwhile, the Department of Health-13 and PhilHealth-13 conducted LAB For All: Laboratoryo, Konsulta at Gamot Para sa Lahat for the city’s residents during the event.

Health services at the event include mental health counseling, HIV counseling, and deployment of augmented doctors and medical technologists to address beneficiaries’ health needs.

During the activity, a total of 32 medical assistive devices were also provided to persons with disabilities, senior citizens, and individuals with mobility limitations.

The assistive devices include six adult wheelchairs, two pediatric wheelchairs, two walkers, three crutches, ten single canes, and nine quad canes. (PNA)
