As people watch K-dramas more and more, they become increasingly familiar with the tropes and formulas that series usually have in common. But every once in a while, K-drama writers and producers come up with the strangest plots that blow everyone’s minds away.

The storylines of these K-dramas range from quirky to downright weird. If you just hear their plots from someone, you’ll probably find it hard to believe that such a series exists. Through unexpected character traits and bizarre situations, these K-dramas become unforgettable to viewers.

With some of the strangest storylines, here are K-dramas that you’ll find odd even just based on the titles alone:

“Chicken Nugget”

Have you ever imagined what it would be like if someone you know suddenly turned into a chicken nugget? Probably not, because it’s not likely to happen in real life. But nothing’s impossible in K-dramas, as proven by the comedy-mystery series “Chicken Nugget” starring Kim Yoo Jung, Ahn Jae Hong, Ryu Seung Ryong, and Jung Ho Yeon.

Based on a webtoon of the same name, this series follows the story of an intern who has a crush on his boss’s daughter, who becomes a chicken nugget after an unfortunate incident involving a mysterious machine.

“Meow, The Secret Boy”

What happens when the cat you adopt is actually able to become human? In the K-drama “Meow, The Secret Boy,” the answer is you’ll end up with a handsome guy who’s in love with you. This series starring Kim Myung Soo, Shin Ye Eun, and Seo Ji Hoon involves an aspiring webtoon artist who brings home a cat that turns out to be capable of transforming into an actual person.

In order to stay near his new owner, the cat strives to hide his identity as a human and win her heart over at the same time. What’s more amusing about this is that Kim Myung Soo is a known cat lover and owner himself!

“The Girl Who Sees Smells”

Humans usually see with their eyes and smell with their noses, never combined together. But this particular K-drama features a woman who can “see” scents after she wakes up from a coma and notices that one of her eyes has turned green.

Starring Shin Se Kyung, Park Yoo Chun, and Namkoong Min, this series is about a special woman who can detect smells with her eyes. She teams up with an aspiring detective with no sense of smell or taste and gets caught up in a murder mystery.

“A Good Day To Be A Dog”

Every person has a secret that they want to hide, but what if that secret is actually about turning into a dog at night? This drama starring Cha Eun Woo, Park Gyu Young, and Lee Hyun Woo features a schoolteacher who transforms into a dog if she gets kissed by any man, because of a curse on her family.

With this, she’s unable to be in an ordinary relationship. However, she accidentally kisses a colleague who is ironically afraid of dogs and has only 100 days to stop the curse by kissing that person again while she’s a dog. If she fails, she’ll stay a dog forever.

“Blade Man”

You might know what a porcupine or hedgehog looks like, but what about a human with actual blades on their body? In this supernatural K-drama starring Lee Dong Wook and Shin Se Kyung, a man mourns the loss of his loved one and develops a cold personality where blades grow on his back every time he feels angry or agonized. But with the help of a kind-hearted woman, he’s able to heal from the pain he’s feeling and soften his physical blades as well.

With the bizarreness of these K-drama storylines, you might either love them or just get weirded out by them. Whatever the case, such K-dramas show how far people’s imaginations can go and the creativity needed to come up with these truly out-of-the-box ideas.
