Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau delivered a message to the Filipino community residing in the country.

A home for over 837,000 Filipinos, Trudeau also acknowledged the contributions that the Filipino citizens has given, especially those currently working at the frontlines.

Moreover, the Prime Minister called on the rampant racism happening there amid the global health crisis, stating that the country does not welcome any form of discrimination against anyone.

“Unfortunately, there have been many incidents and acts of racism towards Canadians of Asian descent lately, including against Filipinos,” he said. “Racism in any form has no place in Canada, and I want you to know that we stand with you”

He concluded the video message with a reminder for the Filipino-Canadian community to stay connected until the world returns to normalcy.

“So, until we can get together on the next parade or festival, let’s stay connected online amd celebrate virtually. Have a wonderful month. Salamat.”
