The Philippine National Police (PNP) turned over Tuesday patrol vehicles and personal safety equipment worth around PHP37.4 million to the Ilocos Norte police to boost security personnel’s visibility here.

PNP Directorate for Logistics Director Mario Reyes, who represented PNP chief Police General Benjamin Acorda Jr. at the event, led the ceremonial turnover and blessing of the 28 new patrol cars worth PHP35.6 million at the Sirib Mile in this city.

Also transferred to the local police are PHP1.765 million worth of safety equipment that include 10 units of tactical vests, 30 units of undershirt vests, 10 units of enhanced combat helmets and 267 raincoats, which were acquired through the congressional initiative of Ilocos Norte 1st District Rep. Ferdinand Alexander Marcos and Senator Imee Marcos.

Police Col. Julius Suriben, Ilocos Norte police director, expressed his gratitude for the provision of the new vehicles and equipment, saying it will boost the capability of the Ilocos Norte police.

As part of PNP’s modernization program, the national government has been distributing police cars in various parts of the country to enhance the law enforcement group’s quick response capabilities and to further inspire them to perform their duties effectively.

In 2022, the Ilocos Norte Police Provincial Office was recognized after the province registered the lowest crime rate in the region. (PNA)
