Speaker Martin Romualdez on Wednesday said the high trust and performance ratings he received in a recent survey only serves as further motivation for the House of Representatives to work harder to raise the standards of living in the country through legislation.

In the recent OCTA Research 4th quarter survey from Dec. 10 to 14 last year, the trust ratings of Romualdez increased by 4 percentage points, to 64 percent from the 60 percent in October’s trust rating polls.

This is the highest increase among the government officials included in the survey.

His performance ratings also increased by 4 percent to 65 percent from 61 percent.

“I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to the Filipino people for the high trust and performance ratings we obtained in the latest OCTA Research survey,” Romualdez said in a statement.

He said while surveys serve as a gauge of public sentiment, they should never be viewed as a reward for hard work.

“Instead, they serve as a reminder of the responsibility we bear as public servants to ensure that every action we take is in the best interest of the Filipino people,” Romualdez said.

“The trust bestowed upon us by the public fuels our commitment to work tirelessly in crafting legislation that addresses the needs and concerns of our fellow Filipinos. It reaffirms our belief that our efforts are making a positive impact on the lives of our constituents,” he added.

Romualdez obtained the highest increase in trust ratings in the National Capital Region, from 48 percent in the last survey to a whopping 63 percent, or an increase of 15 percentage points. In other parts of Luzon, the House Speaker garnered an increase of 12 percent.

In the same survey, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. continued to get high trust ratings with 76 percent, an increase of 3 percent from the last survey.

Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio and Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri, meanwhile, increased by 2 percentage points in trust ratings, from 75 percent to 77 percent, and 57 percent to 59 percent, respectively.

Supreme Court Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo, meanwhile, obtained a trust rating of 23 percent.

The performance ratings of the President, Vice President, Senate President and SC Chief Justice, respectively, are as follows: 71 percent, 75 percent, 60 percent and 18 percent.

“We recognize that our ultimate goal is to enact policies and initiatives that will uplift the lives of every Filipino and contribute to the progress and development of our nation,” Romualdez said. (PNA)
