North Cotabato Governor Nancy Catamco has ordered the provincial engineering office to hasten the rehabilitation of the Bulatukan Bridge here that was damaged by recent floods that hit the province.

On Saturday, the governor and officials from the Department of Public Works and Highways-North Cotabato visited the bridge here in Barangay New Bulatukan to personally look into ongoing rehabilitation works.

The bridge is an essential passage for commuters and product deliveries traversing the Cotabato-Davao route.

Catamco has ordered the fielding of additional heavy equipment from the provincial engineering office to augment efforts of the DPWH team working on the bridge.

“We have initially removed the bulk of rocks, fallen trees, and mud clogging the waterways somehow normalize the flow of water,” Engr. Jun Dayongan, acting chief of DPWH-North Cotabato, said.

Damage to the bridge was placed at PHP5 million. (PNA)
