The Guimaras provincial government is bringing healthcare closer to its people with the opening of new medical services at the Dr. Catalino Gallego Nava Medical Center (DCGNMC) in Barangay San Miguel, Jordan.

The hospital now has 10 hemodialysis machines, a radiology department with a 128-slice CT scanner, a comprehensive tertiary clinical laboratory, wellness and isolation rooms, and a treatment center for HIV/AIDS.

Plans are also underway for a pulmonary unit and the reactivation of the intensive care unit, according to a provincial government news release on Monday.

Acting chief Dr. Serren Lor Gallinero described the initiatives as “lifesaving milestones,” noting that patient referrals outside Guimaras have significantly dropped.

Governor Ma. Lucille Nava, a doctor by profession, said the top priority continues to be “compassionate service.”

“We might be very successful in this physical aspect, but please, always take care of our patients well. That would be the most important thing,” she said. (PNA)
