To ensure the safety of its users when it comes to compromising their accounts on the online platform, Google will start to remove inactive accounts from its platform.
Announced during the first quarter of this year, the online media platform has confirmed that it will purge accounts that have been inactive for over two years.
This decision was the conclusion of the media platform’s solution to enhance the protection of its users. Forgotten or unused accounts do not have two-factor authentication and are commonly not covered by security checks because they are already old.
Deleting the accounts includes the removal of the content on the following platforms included in the Google Workspace: Gmail, Docs, Drive, Meet, Calendar, and also Google Platforms.
To give a heads-up and ample time for its users to know that their accounts would be inactive, Google reassured them that it would send multiple emails to the users along with their recovery email if the user provided them prior to when the email was made.
To avoid the removal of the accounts, Google advised its users to check their accounts just in case they were covered by the two-year date on the online media platform. Hence, the social platform advised that if the account is still used for subscriptions, the account can still be considered active and is safe for purge.
To be sure, Google still advises its users to prepare their backups just in case they are not sure if their accounts have been active for two years.
