Senator Loren Legarda on Tuesday hailed Government Owned and Control Corporations (GOCCs) for their impressive dividend collections that are projected to surpass its PHP100 billion remittance in 2023.

Speaking before the 13th Anniversary of the GOCC Governance Act of 2011, Legarda said GOCCs have already remitted PHP88.58 billion in dividend collections as of May 3.

“Our collective vision was to ensure GOCCs operate profitably and contribute significantly to our nation’s economic development and the welfare of our people. Today, the role GOCCs have played as a tool for national development is undeniable,” Legarda said.

She commended the efforts of GOCC Chairperson Marius Corpus and Commissioners Brian Keith Hosaka and Geraldine Marie Martinez for their dedication to the principles of diversity, sustainability, and excellence.

Legarda said GOCCs should properly adopt innovation and recommit themselves towards inclusive and sustainable governance.

“Let us pledge to build upon our achievements and pave the way toward a future where every Filipino, both today and in generations to come, can thrive in a nation where potential is realized, opportunities abound, and home is protected,” she added. (PNA)
