The only Doctor who will run as vice president in the 2022 election.

On Tuesday, September 21, Manila City Mayor Isko Moreno officially joined the presidential race with the Public Health advocate Dr. Willie Ong as his vice-presidential running mate.

Who is Dr. Willie Ong?

Doctor Willie Ong is a Filipino cardiologist and medical specialist known for his presence on social media. He is married to Anna Liza Ong, a Filipino physician and they have two daughters.

He was a chief resident in Internal Medicine Residency in Manila Doctors Hospital and further pursued a Cardiology fellowship in Philippine General Hospital.

The first medical museum in the Philippines was created by Dr. Ong. Its objective is to inspire Filipinos to become health workers and preserve the country’s medical history. The Co Tec Tai Medical Museum is located in Pasay City.

In 2007, Dr. Willie Ong decided to focus his expertise on treating poor communities without any professional fees to his patients. He became an advocate to several medical missions of the Pasay Volunteer Charity Health Center which aims to provide food, alcohol, and other essential items to the less fortunate.

Ong stands out in writing medical books, one of his most notable and best-selling write-ups is titled the Medicine Blue Book that has now over 400,000 copies. He became a columnist in the Philippine Star and Pilipino Star Ngayon. And eventually gained some popularity as a medical expert on the television show ‘Salamat Dok’ from 2008-2018.

He continuously serves the Filipino people through social media where he uploads videos of him giving free health tips and advice in order to reach wider audiences since 2013.

As of writing, his Facebook page is listed as the top 11 most liked page in the Philippines with 16 million followers while his YouTube channel is listed as the top 23 most subscribed channel with over 6.55 million subscribers.
