Health care workers and authorized persons outside of residence (APORs) may continue to enjoy free rides aboard some public utility jeepneys and buses in Metro Manila for the duration of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).

“Mananatiling bukas ang libreng sakay para sa mga HCWs at APORs hanggang mai-lift ang ECQ sa (Free rides for HCWs and APORs will continue until the ECQ is lifted in) Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal,” the Department of Transportation said in a Facebook post on Wednesday.

To date, the free ride program is available in 51 jeepney routes across Metro Manila in addition to the Edsa Busway route of buses.
The list of these routes providing free rides for APORs is available at http://bit.ly/51jeepneyroutes.

The program is made possible through the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board’s (LTFRB) Service Contracting Program that provides operators and drivers of public utility vehicles with additional income by contracting their services and providing incentives that benefit the commuting public.

On March 29, the LTFRB began providing free rides to APORs initially through 44 modern jeepney routes under the SCP. (PNA)
