The city health office will conduct a free measles-rubella vaccination campaign here from Jan. 19 to Feb. 13, targeting about 154,000 children.

Dr. Annaliza Malubay, medical coordinator of the City Health Office’s national immunization program, said Tuesday that the drive aims for at least 95 percent coverage to ensure community protection, despite Davao City recording zero measles cases in 2025.

“For 2025, we had no positives cases in Davao City. We were negative for measles here. That’s why we have to intensify because the children in Davao, and not just from Davao, many children from other regions are coming in,” Malubay said.

Vaccination teams will be deployed daily to all districts, satellite health centers and communities to reach children aged six months to 59 months.

Parents are advised to coordinate with village health workers.

Measles is highly contagious, with one infected person capable of spreading the virus to 12 to 18 others, making widespread vaccination critical. (PNA)
