A farmers’ association from Barangay Panoypoy in Calbayog City has recently received PHP 260,250 worth of farm equipment funded under the Climate Resilient Farm Productivity Support (CRFPS) project of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR).

The equipment consisting of a hand tractor with rotavator, a water pump with suction and discharge hose, a grass cutter, and several garden tools benefitted the Panoypoy Farmers Association (PFA) with 113 members; 69 are agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) who are into hog-raising and organic vegetable production.

DAR-Calbayog provincial chief Alfonso Catorce said the distribution of the farm equipment is in line with the directive of Secretary Conrado Estrella III to provide modern equipment to the ARBs.

“These farm machines are exactly what the 113 farmer-members of the PFA need to help them in their livestock-raising and organic vegetable production,” Catorce said.

Meanwhile, PFA was grateful for the support, which is expected to boost their agricultural production.

“We would like to thank the DAR for listening to our concerns and for granting what they had promised us,” PFA president Pedro Abajo said.

The DAR’s CRFPS project is geared toward building resiliency for agrarian reform communities by providing them with modern equipment to increase their farm production, yield better income and improve their lives. (PNA)
