Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria of this Negros Oriental capital announced on Tuesday that the city government will paint the fences of public schools with a standardized color.

Sagarbarria mentioned at a press interview that this represents the city’s support for the ongoing Brigada Eskwela.

He stated that using a consistent color – beige – for the schools’ boundary fences will contribute to a cleaner and more aesthetically pleasing city.

“However, I urge the school officials not to create murals on these enclosed fences,” he said.

The mayor announced that he plans to visit various public schools throughout the city in June to assess their conditions and needs.

The city government, he said, is open to assisting in various ways to ensure that schools provide a safe and secure atmosphere for students, educators, and other individuals.

Sagarbarria cited the importance of preserving a tidy and welcoming atmosphere in the capital, particularly as it is marketed as the nation’s safest city.

He acknowledged that significant effort is required to keep the streets, public spaces, and other areas well-maintained and clean.

Eight high schools and 18 elementary schools in the city are under the supervision of the Department of Education. (PNA)
