The Department of Social Welfare and Development in the Davao Region (DSWD-11) has provided PHP900,000 in livelihood aid to two farmers’ associations in Paquibato District, the Army’s 89th Infantry Battalion (89IB) said Friday.

The Pegdalahan Tribes Farmers Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) Association in Barangay Pandaitan and the Kinse-Kinse Farmers Association in Barangay Salapawan received PHP450,000 each as seed capital for general merchandise businesses.

“These initiatives aim to empower local communities, including Citizen Armed Forces Geographical Unit Active Auxiliary members,” 2Lt. Queency Duhig, 89IB community development officer, said in a news release.

The SLP is a capacity-building program that provides support to improve socioeconomic conditions.

The program offers seed capital, cash for building livelihood assets fund, skills training fund and employment assistance fund. (PNA)
