The Department of Social Welfare and Development in the Davao Region (DSWD-11) has donated a PHP4.4 million multipurpose building to Mawab, Davao de Oro.
DSWD-11 Regional Director Merlinda Paragamac said the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS)-funded project includes a kitchen, dining, service, and laundry areas and three restrooms with facilities for people with disabilities.
“The building addresses critical gaps in the barangay, especially in disaster preparedness,” Paragamac said in a news release Monday.
The facility will benefit 10,704 residents of Barangay Poblacion, including indigent households and indigenous peoples, who face challenges during earthquakes and floods.
Kalahi-CIDSS is one of the poverty alleviation programs of the Philippine government that uses the community-driven development approach by empowering targeted municipalities through participation in more inclusive local planning, budgeting, and implementation. (PNA)
