The Department of Public Works and Highways in Caraga (DPWH-13) will accelerate four priority infrastructure projects worth PHP81.9 billion, newly appointed Director Alex Ramos assured Tuesday.

“The Maharlika Highway is a vital road network that connects the Caraga Region to the Visayas and Luzon provinces,” Ramos said in an interview.

The PHP30.3-billion highway rehabilitation 2023-2028 has received PHP11.5 billion in funding, with ongoing widening and reconstruction works.

Three other projects include the PHP26.2-billion Butuan-Agusan Logistical Road (19.94 percent complete), the PHP8.8-billion Cabadbaran-Puting Bato-Lanuza Road, and the PHP16.5-billion Agusan Norte-Sur Lateral Road.

“The massive construction works along the Maharlika Highway involve road widening, rehabilitation, reconstruction, and upgrading of damaged paved roads,” Ramos said, adding that the projects aim to enhance Mindanao-wide connectivity and trade. (PNA)
