The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) and the Baguio Public Employment Services Office (PESO) are urging job seekers to pre-register before the Labor Day Job Fair on May 1.

“Whether you are a fresh graduate or a seasoned professional, explore local and overseas job openings from trusted employers,” the DOLE-CAR said in its official social media page for the 123rd Labor Day employment activity.

Patrick Rillorta, information officer of DOLE-CAR, said in an interview on Friday that the registration forms are uploaded by the PESO and DOLE in their system as a database in case employers need their information.

“If they pre-register, they can have ample time to think about the answers and the entries that they will put, that is why we are encouraging the applicants to pre-register so that they do not need to rush in filling out the forms,” he said.

Rillorta added that the registration form is much like a personal data sheet or curriculum vitae and can help employers decide whether to hire an applicant.

Michelle Agbuya, PESO-Baguio manager, added that early registration would shorten the application process, facilitating faster referral and allowing the applicant to apply for more vacancies.

Among the information needed in the pre-registration form are skills, and preferred industries and positions. Required documents will also have to be attached.

“The registration takes quite a time and if they are prepared with it, they will also prevent wasting of time filling out the form during the event. If they have a form ready, they can immediately proceed to the preferred company offering their desired position,” Agbuya said.

She said different government offices will also provide services during the job fair, which would be held in two venues — the SM City mall here and the Baguio Cultural and Convention Center. (PNA)
