The Department of Social Welfare and Development in the Caraga Region (DSWD-13), through its Food-for-Work program (FFW), distributed around 2,793 family food packs (FFPs) to the beneficiaries of its risk resiliency program in the towns of Basilisa and Libjo in the Dinagat Islands on Wednesday.

In a statement on Thursday, the DSWD-13 said the FFPs served as compensation for the work and services rendered by the beneficiaries of Local Adaptation to Water Access and Breaking Insufficiency through Nutritious Harvest for the Impoverished, popularly known as Project LAWA at BINHI, in their respective communities.

In Basilisa, 300 beneficiaries from Barangays Diegas, New Nazareth, and Ritaglenda received three boxes each, totaling 900 FFPs.

In the town of Libjo, a total of 1,893 FFPs were distributed to 481 beneficiaries across Barangays General Aguinaldo, San Antonio, and Llamera.

“The distribution of FFPs also supports the local initiatives of the beneficiaries while ensuring that their contributions to the project are recognized,” the DSWD-13 said.

The agency added the FFW program continues to empower communities, promote sustainable development, and provide much-needed support to families in the Dinagat Islands. (PNA)
