The community pantry launched late last month in Barangay Doongan here received food supplies from the office of the Department of the Interior and Local Government in Caraga Region (DILG-13) on Friday.

DILG-13 Director Lilibeth A. Famacion led the handover of food supplies such as rice, eggs, canned goods, coffee, and other basic necessities to the community pantry, manned by village officials headed by Chairperson Gilberto Enriquez.

DILG-13 also brought health protection kits such as face masks and face shields.

“This support will further boost our pantry here in our barangay. On behalf of the barangay council of Doongan, I am thankful to Dir. Famacion and the staff of DILG-13 for this support,” Enriquez told the Philippine News Agency Friday.

Most of the regional offices of the line agencies of the government, including the DILG, are situated in Barangay Doongan.

During the opening of the pantry last month, Enriquez said the regional offices pledged their support to the community pantry.

“Since our opening last month, hundreds of families from our sub-communities were already served by this pantry,” Enriquez said.

Barangay Doongan has a total of 19 sub-communities, known as “puroks”.

Enriquez also thanked all the volunteers, especially the youth sector in the area for the services they rendered in the day-to-day operations of the pantry. (PNA)
