The Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division of Antique encouraged students to join the fun-filled National Learning Camp (NLC) to enrich their mastery of English, Mathematics, and Science subjects.

Dr. Edward Baña, DepEd Antique Curriculum and Teaching Division Chief Education Supervisor, said in an interview Wednesday that the learning camp, which started in the summer of 2023 for Grades 7 to 8, is expanded to Grades 1 to 3 and Grades 7 to 10 in gradual or by phase implementation.

“The NLC will be conducted from July 1-19 in the different schools in Antique,” he said.

He said there are three camp placements, including the Intervention Camp for learners necessitating remedial classes on the three subjects, the Consolidation Camp for learners with mastery of the subjects but needing exposure for application, and the Enrichment Camp for fast learners to advance their learning.

He added that based on their initial enrolment, subject to validation, 13,189 in the elementary and 6,189 learners in the secondary voluntarily signed up for the camp.

There are 213 elementary and 50 secondary public schools in Antique that will conduct the NLC.

“The NLC is fun-filled because lessons will not only be confined within the classrooms, but even at the gymnasiums or other venues where the learning activity is applicable,” Baña said.

The NLC, aside from improving the knowledge and skills of the learners, also enables teachers to enhance their teaching competencies in making their instructions attractive to learners.

Baña appealed to parents to allow their children to participate in the free NLC by signing them up in their schools. (PNA)
