Department Of Agrarian Reform-Cagayan Upskills Farmers On Product Chain Management

The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) is conducting product chain management training for farmers and agrarian reform beneficiaries in Cagayan province to open up more opportunities for them to earn more.

Thirty-eight members of the Patasda cooperative in Allacapan and Bical-Baliuag cooperative in Peñablanca were the initial participants in the recent DAR and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) trainings that will arm them with knowledge on how to centrally control and efficiently link their production, shipment and distribution of products.

DAR Secretary Conrado Estrella III instructed that other government agencies be tapped to help the farmers improve their livelihood activities.

“Product chain management refers to the full life cycle of a product or process. It is the management of the flow of goods and services and includes all processes that transform raw materials into final products until their eventual delivery to the customer,” DAR Cagayan Regional Director Samuel Solomero said in a news release on Friday.

The farmers learned the importance, benefits, concepts, and advantages of managing supply chain, Solomero added.

DAR expects agrarian reform beneficiary organization members who completed the training to efficiently manage their production and develop a system for bigger income.

“The training was implemented under the support service component of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program where the DAR and DTI would closely work together to assist the agrarian reform beneficiaries,” Solomero said. (PNA)
