The provincial government will allocate PHP300 million for flood control projects next year, following the approval of a PHP700-million loan from the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP), Governor Franklin Bautista announced Monday.

In a press briefing, Bautista said the funding would support river control structures in flood-prone areas and seawalls to protect the coastal Poblacion area.

“Our establishments are not being protected (from flooding). So we have to build the river control projects,” Bautista said, adding the flood control projects in Barangays Ticulon and Pangian in this town have been completed this year.

He said additional funds will be earmarked for infrastructure like a provincial jail, training center, and coliseum, which will be completed next year.

In his State of the Province Address, Bautista said these “big-ticket” projects seek to improve residents’ quality of life. (PNA)
