The Northern Mindanao Federation of Dairy Cooperatives (NMFDC) inaugurated a PHP3.6 million administration building in El Salvador City, Misamis Oriental on Wednesday, with support from the National Dairy Authority (NDA) and the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).

NDA 10 (Northern Mindanao) Manager Jester John Jadap said the upgraded facility aims to bolster dairy production and support the cooperative’s operations.

Jadap highlighted NMFDC’s 38-year legacy, particularly its “Highland Fresh” product line, which is pursuing ISO (International Organization for Standardization) certification.

“As Highland Fresh moves towards ISO certification, we are confident in the quality of its products,” he said.

Established in 1987, NMFDC has grown into a successful cooperative, earning national recognition. It now comprises seven primary cooperatives and one associate cooperative operating in Bukidnon and Misamis Oriental.

DOST-10 Director Romela Ratilla cited the agency’s role in advancing the cooperative’s technological capabilities.

“DOST-10 continues to monitor the processing plant’s mechanisms to drive innovation,” Ratilla said, adding that Highland Fresh exemplifies how micro, small, and medium enterprises can transition to commercial markets. (PNA)
