The Department of Agriculture in the Caraga Region (DA-13) has begun distributing PHP222.1 million worth of discount vouchers to rice farmers.

The fertilizer discount vouchers will cover about 74,470 hectares, DA-13 said in a news release Friday.

In the coming weeks, the agency will also distribute PHP48.8 million in seed discount vouchers, covering 9,692 hectares; PHP45.4 million in biofertilizer vouchers, covering 26,435.4 hectares; PHP50.4 million in soil ameliorant vouchers; and PHP11.6 million in drone vouchers.

The first distribution was Jan. 22 in Agusan del Sur, where 217 rice farmers in San Francisco town received PHP1.2 million worth of seed vouchers.

“This rollout, part of the 2024-2025 dry cropping season, aims to support the cultivation of 244 hectares of rice fields in San Francisco,” DA-13 said.

The agency will schedule more distribution activities in the coming months. (PNA)
