The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Wednesday reported there are 40 new cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) among overseas Filipinos (OFs) bringing the total to 1,644 as of April 29.

“To date, only 26 percent of the confirmed cases have been verified by the Department of Health through the National Focal Point (NFP) for International Health Regulations (IHR) due to obtaining reports and verification of NFPs of IHR in other countries,” DFA Assistant Secretary Eduardo Meñez said.

Based on the compiled DFA data, there are 365 cases of OFs with Covid-19 in the Asia Pacific region, at least 461 in Europe, 350 in the Middle East/Africa, and 468 in the American region.

The deaths, on the other hand, stand at two in the Asia Pacific region, 64 in Europe, 18 in the Middle East/Africa, and 115 in the American region.

As of writing, there are 1,011 Filipino patients undergoing treatment.

Meanwhile, a total of 434 already recovered while 199 have died.

Meñez said the 10 new recorded deaths were from the Americas and the Middle East. (PNA)
