The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is reminding poll registrants for the December 5 synchronized Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) and Barangay elections to strictly observe the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) health protocol.

“We remind them to always wear their face masks and observe safe physical distancing,” said Comelec Assistant Regional Director and concurrent Antique Provincial Election Supervisor Tomas S. Valera said in an interview Tuesday.

He said the voters who would like to register could also check on the schedule of the satellite registration of their respective municipal election offices so that they no longer have to crowd at the Comelec offices.

“The municipal election offices are also conducting satellite or mobile registration so the voters could check for the schedule in their barangays,” he said.

The registration that started on July 4 will only be until July 23, 2022.

Valera encouraged the public, especially the new voters who are 15 to 18 years old, to take the time to register.

Eighteen to 30 years old could also vote for the Barangay officials aside from the SK.

Based on the Comelec Antique provincial office data, there were 439 who had registered for both the SK and Barangay election from the 18 municipalities on Monday. (PNA)
