The Commission on Elections (Comelec) here announced Thursday it has added nine more days to the satellite voters’ registration schedule to allow more people to sign up for the May 9, 2022 national and local elections.

Lawyer Ian Macaraya, city election officer and spokesperson for the Comelec in Negros Oriental, said additional satellite voters’ registration activities are set in three barangays, two shopping malls and at the provincial jail in the coming days.

The schedule and venues for the satellite voters’ registration are as follows: Sept. 17 in Barangay Calindagan; Sept. 18 in Barangay Bantayan; Sept. 23 for PDLs at the provincial jail; Sept. 24 in Barangay Piapi; Sept. 25 and 27 at City Mall; and Sept. 28, 29 and 30 at Robinsons mall.

To date, the total number of registered voters in this capital city is 85,635 but Macaraya is hoping that the figures will still rise in the next few days before the deadline.

All of the satellite registration activities in the different venues, except for the provincial jail, will accommodate all eligible voters in this capital.

Macaraya called on the people to not wait until the Sept. 30 deadline to register for next year’s polls and avail instead of these satellite activities. (PNA)
