Passenger volume at the Clark International Airport (CRK) is steadily increasing with a total of 189,183 in May this year.

Of this number, there were 73,336 domestic passengers and 115,847 international passengers that have flown in and out of CRK.

Luzon International Premier Airport Development (LIPAD), the consortium that manages CRK, attributed the increasing number of passengers to the growing demand for air travel and the addition of new routes at the airport.

“May is a good month for Clark International Airport. We celebrated our first anniversary at the new terminal and we recorded this significant increase,” LIPAD Corp. President and CEO Noel F. Manankil said in media interview on Thursday.

Compared to last April, the volume of passengers totaled to 123,161 with 35,814 domestic and 87,347 international.

Likewise, the total number of flights at the CRK was pegged at 1,537 in May as against 898 flights in April.

Meanwhile, the total number of airlines that operated at CRK in May was 13, which comprised five locals and 8 internationals. These serviced 20 routes, with 10 domestic and 10 international.

The routes are Bacolod, Caticlan, Cagayan de Oro, Davao, Cebu, Coron, El Nido, General Santos, Iloilo, Puerto Princesa, Bangkok, Busan, Doha, Dubai, Hong Kong, Incheon, Macau, Narita, Singapore, and Taipei.

LIPAD is optimistic for a continuous increase of travelers using its airport as it boasted the CRK’s amenities and facilities that enhance passenger experience.

It currently employs a one-time security check and uses contactless equipment to reduce the time spent by travelers in checking in their luggage and proceeding to their gates.

It has also built a lounge for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and gender-neutral toilets, both of which are meant to promote comfort, inclusivity and safety for travelers.

Traveling to the airport is also hassle free with frequent point-to-point (P2P) services to and from Ninoy Aquino International Airport, Trinoma, Dau, and Baguio City operated by Genesis Transport Services.

Victory Liner also operates P2P services to and from Dagupan City and Olongapo City. (PNA)
