Three centenarians here received cash incentives from the local government unit (LGU) on Wednesday as part of the implementation of Republic Act 10868 or the Centenarians Act of 2016.

Wilfredo Intia, Office of Senior Citizens’ Affairs (OSCA) head, handed over PHP30,000 and certificates of commendation to Severina Copioso, Margarita Alcazar, and Alejandra Rosadino, all from this city.

Copioso will be celebrating her 102th birthday on November 1, according to Jasmina Copioso Bron, her second daughter.

The secret of her mother’s long life, Jasmina said, is regular planting of different agricultural crops as part of her daily exercise, and balanced diet of vegetables, fruits, and meat.

She added that her mother has difficulty in walking but her eyes could still see very clearly.

Recently, the three centenarians each received PHP100,000 from the national government and PHP50,000 from the provincial government of Albay. (PNA)
