The presidential campaign began on Tuesday, February 8, and many Filipino voters watched the proclamation rallies of the presidential candidates and their allies live on Facebook. High-profile celebrities have also been seen during the proclamation rallies who are in full support of their candidates. Others have performed and co-hosted the program.

As the Philippines’ formal election campaign commenced, one of the most anticipated scenes was celebrities displaying support for their candidates, as we all know celebrities have the power to influence people’s votes. As a result, we’ve compiled a list of celebrities to learn more about them and the candidates they supported:

1. Vice President Leni Robredo and Sen. Kiko Pangilinan

Leni Robredo, running for president, and her running mate for vice president, Sen. Kiko Pangilinan, kicked off their proclamation rally in Plaza Quezon, Naga City. Kakampinks, or Filipino voters, supported and attended the said event. The event was co-hosted by Nikki Valdez, Gab Valenciano, comedian Red Ollero, Pinky Amador, and Bituin Escalante, who sang the Philippine National Anthem. Agot Isidro and Cherry Pie Picache were among the celebrities who also attended. For the musical acts and performances, two OPM bands joined the rally, namely The Company while the Rivermaya performed at the end of the program.

2. Bongbong Marcos and Mayor Sara Duterte

The Philippine Arena in Santa Maria, Bulacan is attended by the BBM-Sara supporters as Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos and Davao City Mayor Sara “Inday” Duterte start their campaign period. Co-hosted by Toni Gonzaga, other celebrities are also seen attending the UniTeam rally online. Ynez Veneracion and Njel de Mesa performed. Karla Estrada, one of the hosts of “Magandang Buhay” and a Tingog Party-List candidate, also performed at the rally. Other celebrities who attended the UniTeam rally are Dulce, Robert Sena, Isay Alvarez, Randy Santiago, and Wency Cornejo.

3. Sen. Manny Pacquiao and Lito Atienza

Meanwhile, Sen. Manny Pacquiao, who’s running for president, and his running mate for vice president, Lito Atienza, went to the former’s hometown in General Santos City as they officially began their campaign period. The OPM singer Freddie Aguilar, who popularized his song “Anak,” performed it at the said rally as a dedication song for Pacquiao. Actress Bianca Manalo also attended the rally on behalf of her husband, Sen. Win Gatchalian, who’s also an ally of the Pacquiao-Atienza tandem.

4. Sen. Ping Lacson and Sen. Tito Sotto

Eat Bulaga hosts and comedy duo Wally Bayola and Jose Manalo attended and performed for the Sotto-Lacson tandem. Presidential candidate Sen. Ping Lacson and Senate President Tito Sotto kicked off their rally with the support of Sotto’s brother, Vic Sotto. Sotto’s daughter, Ciara Sotto, also attended and performed in front of the crowd.

5. Mayor Isko Moreno and Dr. Willie Ong

Manila Mayor and presidential candidate Francisco “Isko” Moreno Domagoso, along with running mate Dr. Willie Ong, launched their campaign in Kartilya ng Katipunan in Manila. Unlike the other proclamation rallies, they had no high-profile celebrity guests who joined them.

6. Ka Leody De Guzman and Walden Bello

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Monday reminded candidates of the restrictions that will be implemented for in-person campaigning as the 90-day campaign period for national candidates began on Tuesday.

Despite the fact that Comelec may file an offense against them for failing to obtain the required campaign permit, presidential candidate Ka Leody De Guzman and his running mate for vice president Walden Bello held their proclamation rally 2022 Manggagawa Naman at the Bantayog ng Mga Bayani in Quezon City.
