The city government here is eyeing a PHP33.1 billion budget for 2025 to bankroll next year’s health, disaster response, and infrastructure projects, an official said on Thursday.
Joseph Michael Espina, secretary of the City Planning and Development Council, said Resolution 01-905 outlines the body’s Annual Investment Plan (AIP) for 2025, focusing on human asset development efforts.
About PHP30.5 billion of the entire budget will go to the “general fund proper” while PHP2.6 billion is earmarked for “special accounts.”
“The local disaster risk reduction and management plan will have an allocation of PHP1.3 billion for equipment and resources to enhance the emergency response capabilities, equipment, and communication,” he said.
Some PHP150 million will be allocated for the local climate change action plan, including the procurement of electric vehicles and the purchase of lots for socialized housing units for residents displaced by demolitions or river clearing activities.
The peace and order programs in the city will get PHP40 million for a confidential intelligence fund and PHP18 million for land acquisition that will benefit the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Central Visayas office.
The programs to be funded with the annual budget will be institutional development and management (PHP17.2 billion); social services (PHP7.7 billion); and environmental management (PHP1.3 billion), health services improvement, including facility upgrades and the establishment of a Vaccination Operation Center (PHP2.3 billion).
Transport vehicle purchase and equipment upgrades for the Department of Social Welfare and Services will be funded with PHP1.5 billion while the economic development plan through infrastructure development will get PHP3.2 billion and senior citizens and persons with disabilities support programs will get PHP1 billion for their financial aid.
