Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) President Arsenio “Nick” Lizaso shared his idea to make a TV series adaptation of Jose Rizal’s “Noli Me Tangere,” during a press conference for CCP online series “Kung Hindi Man”.
Lizaso aims to cater to famous young actors and actresses in the country who have established their names in the entertainment industry, starring Kathryn Bernardo, Daniel Padilla, and Liza Soberano.
“I’m working on getting millennial actors so that our senior students can relate to the modern actors like Daniel Padilla, Kathryn Bernardo, and Liza Soberano. Nag-uumpisa na po ako ng pre-prod,” Lizaso shared.
Noli Me Tangere (Touch Me Not) is a novel written in Spanish and was published in 1887, it is one of the two required readings for junior high school students in the country. The other novel is titled El Filibusterismo (The Reign of Greed) which is the continuation of it.
These two great pieces of literature played a crucial role in the revolution and political history of the Philippines. Both novels were written by the Philippine National Hero Dr. Jose P. Rizal.
Actress Kathryn Bernardo will portray Solome, she is among the major characters of the novel who is a young girl who lives in San Diego and serves as the lover of Elias in Noli Me Tangere.
Actor Daniel Padilla will play Elias who is known for being a companion of Crisostomo Ibarra. He is a selfless man who is willing to dedicate himself to helping those oppressed in society.
Meanwhile, actress Liza Soberano will portray Sisa, the most recognized character in Noli Me Tangere. She serves as the battered mother who went insane from suffering physical abuse from her husband and the mother of famous brothers, Crispin and Basilio.
