Carmen Copper Corporation, a subsidiary of Atlas Mining & Development Corporation, is deepening its support to communities in the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic.

On August 16, 2021, Carmen Copper donated critical medical equipment to ten public hospitals in Cebu province. Carmen Copper President and Chief Executive Roy O. Deveraturda turned over the medical equipment to Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia and Deputy Speaker Pablo John Garcia (Cebu, Third District).

“We continue to look after the welfare of our communities. Our strong relationships with the determined and passionate leaders of our host communities such as the governor, enable us to bring help where they need it most,” Mr. Deveraturda said.

The medical equipment consists of Mindray SV300 ventilators to aid patients in breathing and Respircare Hifent HUMID-BM high flow nasal cannulas which will help increase oxygen flow.

Four ventilators will be distributed to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center, Cebu City Medical Center, Talisay City District Hospital and the Cebu Provincial Hospital in the Municipality of Balamban.

Meantime, six nasal devices will be turned over to the Toledo City General Hospital, Vicente Mendiola Center for Health Infirmary (City of Naga), Barili District Hospital and the Provincial Hospitals in the cities of Bogo, Carcar and Danao.

In addition, Carmen Copper offered its Recreation Center as a vaccination venue to facilitate the inoculation of its employees and stakeholders including De La Salle Andres Soriano Memorial College, personnel from Barangay Don Andres Soriano and officers of the Philippine National Police as well as its subcontractors.

As of August 24, 2021, some 68% of Carmen Copper’s employees have already received at least their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Carmen Copper provided COVID-19 relief to over 16,000 affected households. It also sent aid to 38 barangays in Toledo City to boost the local government’s capacity in combatting the spread of the virus. These took the form of sacks of rice, food packs and canned goods, washable face masks, face shields and gallons of ethyl alcohol.
