The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) and its key shelter agencies (KSAs) have distributed relief packs, mostly household necessities, to families displaced by Super Typhoon Carina in the National Capital Region (NCR).

In a news release on Wednesday, DHSUD Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar said the relief operations benefited evacuees in Parola Compound in Manila and Bagong Silangan, Quezon City.

“This is our simple way of easing the burden of our kababayans. Asahan nyo po na tuluy-tuloy ang DHSUD at ang aming mga KSAs sa paghahanap ng paraan upang matulungan ang mga pamilyang apektado ng nakaraang bagyo (Expect the DHSUD and the KSAs to continue to find ways to help families affected by the recent typhoon),” Acuzar said.

“Ang bilin ng Pangulong Bongbong Marcos Jr. ay ibigay ang lahat ng tulong sa mga napinsala, ‘yan po ang ating gagawin sa mga susunod pang mga araw (President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has ordered to provide aid to all victims and that is what we will do in the next few days).”

The Pag-IBIG Fund provided relief packs, which included sleeping mats, flashlights, blankets, plastic plates, plastic drinking glasses, cooking pots, and pans. Meanwhile, the DHSUD-NCR facilitated the relief operation.

The Social Housing Finance Corp. allocated relief packs for distribution to homeowners’ associations within its typhoon-affected project sites while the National Home Mortgage Finance Corp. prepared hygiene kits.

DHSUD’s regional offices in the affected areas are coordinating with local government units for the processing of cash assistance under its Integrated Disaster Shelter Assistance Program for those whose houses were destroyed or damaged.

On Friday, Acuzar instructed the agencies to grant a one-month moratorium on the monthly amortizations of typhoon-affected clients.

The Pag-IBIG Fund allocated PHP3 billion in calamity loans and deployed its Lingkod Pag-IBIG-on-wheels to bring services closer for the convenience of members. (PNA)
