To support areas affected by typhoons during the last quarter of 2024, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. sent financial assistance to this province on Wednesday.

Presidential son William Vincent Araneta Marcos personally handed PHP50 million to heads of local government units (LGU) at the provincial capitol in Barangay Suklayin, this capital town.

The financial aid is meant to address damage caused by Severe Tropical Storm Nika (Toraji) and Super Typhoons Ofel (Usagi) and Pepito (Man-Yi) in November.

The assistance was accepted by Governor Reynante Tolentino for the provincial government (PHP30 million); Mayor Roynald Soriano for Casiguran (PHP10 million); Lian Angara, the mayor’s daughter, and Vincent Paladio, executive assistant, for Baler representing Mayor Rhett Angara (PHP10 million).

The ceremony was attended by Rep. Rommel Angara, Provincial Administrator Joseph Soniel, Board Members Jake Galban and Lloyd Alsen Delos Reyes, and other LGU officials.

The governor thanked the President for the assistance, saying it would expedite recovery efforts, including relief operations, infrastructure rehabilitation, and agricultural restoration. (PNA)
