This city received the Nutrition Honor Award by the National Nutrition Council in Northern Mindanao (NNC-10) on Friday.

As part of the regional observance of National Nutrition Month, City Administrator Hilario Roy Raagas and City Health Officer Dr. Rachel Dilla received the award for upholding NNC-10’s policies on the city’s general welfare in health and nutrition.

Raagas said the city government supports NNC-10’s mission to promote proper nutrition for all ages through sustainable food systems in markets.

“If we take care of our environment, we can be assured that our food sources will be safe and sustainable,” he said.

NNC-10 program coordinator Reginaldo Guillen said this year’s celebration aims to make Filipinos see more clearly the connection among healthy environments, food systems and nutrition.

He said the national and local governments remain steadfast in implementing programs and services that support health, nutrition and the environment.

“There are programs and services for health. There are also for the environment. These are not optics,” Guillen said. (PNA)
