The local government has issued guidelines for the observance of All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days on Nov. 1-2, including a ban on disposable plastic bottles in public cemeteries.

In a statement, Mayor Rolando Uy said the directive covers traffic management, peace and order, and environmental monitoring from Oct. 31 to Nov. 2.

“The public is advised to bring tumblers while the local government will provide free water by putting water dispensers in select areas within the City Memorial Park,” Uy said.

Under the guidelines, the City Local Environment and Natural Resources Office was tasked to observe the banning of disposable plastic containers within the cemetery premises.

The order also includes the ban on selling food and drinks within and near the City Memorial Park, formerly known as the Bolonsori Public Cemetery, which is the city’s biggest public cemetery.

The Cagayan de Oro Police and traffic authorities said they are ready for the holiday. (PNA)
