The city government has begun to conduct city-wide disinfection to combat and safeguard the residents against the new coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

At least 50 personnel of the city government started the disinfection of all the buildings within the city hall compound here on Thursday.

The disinfection was also done in schools, churches and other establishments in the city.

The city’s two major public markets including the vegetable trading center, are also subject for disinfection.

The city supermarket was closed for the disinfecting activity that started at 8 a.m.

The Sangitan Public Market, which serves as major trading center for vegetables coming from various provinces to Metro Manila and Southern Luzon markets, will undergo disinfection at 3 p.m. on Friday.

Vendors and traders were likewise advised to wear face masks.

“Ang pamamaraan na ito ay mahalaga upang mabigyan ng proteksyon ang kalusugan ng mga nagtitinda at mga namimili sa dalawang palengke (This procedure is important in order to give protection to the health of the sellers and buyers in the two markets,” the Cabanatuan City Information and Tourism Office said in a statement.

Meanwhile, SM City Cabanatuan headed by Gilson Catalig, customer relations services manager, donated seven units of thermal scanners to the city government.

Catalig said as corporate social responsibility, they also need to act and help protect the city, where there is no positive Covid-19 case as of the moment.

“Thermal scanners will be used by Cabanatuan police force and City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) at the entry and exit check points as precautionary measures not only for the malls but for the safety of the community,” Catalig said.

The donated thermal scanners were received by Eugene Mintu, head of CDRRMO in this city.

Also, food packs and bottled water were supplied to those manning the Sumacab police checkpoint here. (PNA)
