The Butuan Medical Center (BMC) here will now have the capacity to store Pfizer vaccines with the arrival of two units of ultralow temperature freezers.

Michiko De Jesus of the information office of Butuan City told Philippine News Agency (PNA) on Thursday that the ultralow freezers arrived in the city on Wednesday.

“These ultralow freezers are now at the BMC and ready to be utilized to store Pfizer vaccines,” de Jesus said.

The two storage facilities were procured by the city government in the amount of PHP1.5 million.

In a separate statement, the information office said that the new freezers have the capacity of 728 liters and 959 liters.

One of the freezers has the capacity to store 49,140 to 51,480 vials while the other one can keep 65,520 to 67,860 vials.

“The new freezers will capacitate the city government of Butuan and the BMC to store more vaccines for the priority groups in the continuing vaccination program of the government,” the information office said.

It also urged residents in the city to get themselves vaccinated for protection against the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19). (PNA)
