The Bulacan Police Provincial Office (BPPO) has established 41 police assistance desks to ensure the safe travel of motorists and commuters during the Lenten season and the rest of the summer break.

Col. Rommel J. Ochave, acting BPPO director, said on Monday the move is in anticipation of huge crowds flocking various tourist destinations that have reopened after being closed in the past two years due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.

“We want to make sure that minimum public health standards, as well as peace and order, are maintained at all points of convergence across the province,” Ochave said in an interview.

He said regular inspections of tourist attractions, mobile patrols, and increased police presence in areas where the influx of tourists is expected and critical infrastructure, such as passenger terminals, are being conducted.

Aside from the establishment of police assistance desks, Ochave said 78 police personnel were deployed to various strategic areas in the province.

He said the BPPO guarantees adherence to minimum public health standards to mitigate a resurgence of Covid-19 cases and curb the occurrence of crimes. (PNA)
